CLASS DEMEANOR & Attendance
This is an advanced class. You are expected to behave, be on time every day, and keep absences to a minimum.
If you are absent, you should go to Google Classroom (which may direct you to the class website) to see what topic you missed. Being absent is not an excuse for failing to do your work. You should access information, do assignments, and turn them in. Study groups and/or study buddies are highly recommended. I cannot personally tutor every person who misses class for any reason, including school activities (sports, club trips, show choir, etc.) If you come to class, do all your homework and assignments, read the text, access the class website and view linked videos, discuss the matter with other class members, etc., but STILL DO NOT UNDERSTAND, I will certainly help you after school or via e-mail.
We will follow the handbook policy: You have as many days to make up work as days you were absent. Work for unexcused absences can receive a maximum grade of 70%. Cheating will not be tolerated; evidence of cheating (in this class, having a cell phone out during a quiz/test is considered cheating) OR talking during a test/quiz will result in a zero and a discipline referral. Citizenship grade will be reduced.
SAFETY & Lab Protocol: There is no horseplay in a science lab. Safety rules should always be followed. No materials may be removed from the lab. Do not pour anything down the sink without permission. Leave your work area clean IN THE SAME MANNER AS YOU FOUND IT. Wash and return all materials to their proper places unless otherwise specified. DO NOT place dirty glassware in the sink for someone else to wash! Use beaker/flask/test tubes brushes with a drop of dish soap to thoroughly clean all glassware!
Discuss activities and results with your lab partner, but all work/lab reports should be original and yours alone; do not copy from others. Read the safety contract and follow all rules at all times. Read "Safety Contract" and "Classroom Policies" found under "More."
Late Work
No late homework will be accepted. This class will move at a fast pace and is appropriate for serious students only. All content is cumulative; therefore, missing assignments and absences will have a snowball effect. Eventually, it will be impossible to catch up and do well in the course.
